NEWSFLASH WITH BETTY GREY
Good evening everyone. Tonight we bring you a time that was, and is, the era of the 1950’s as we remember:
BEEP-BEEP-BEEP ...
Newsflash: 1950 brings a different sort of leading man to the screen as director turned actor Yul Brynner reprises his stage role as the King of Siam in 1950’s “The King and I”, co-starring Deborah Kerr. Yul brought a new perception to an attractive leading man with a bald head in Hollywood.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP ...
This just in: Just off from his big success as Caleb in “East of Eden”, and having already filmed “A Rebel without a Cause” and “Giant”, 24 year old actor James Dean dies in a car crash just a few weeks shy of the premiere of his new movie, “Rebel without a Cause”. Dean would go on to be nominated for an Oscar for this film, as well as his role as Jett Rink, in the 1956 film “Giant”, which was released a year later on November 24, 1956.
